Daisies

Daisy Scouts will have the opportunity to learn about their local history through hands-on activities and crafts. Daisies will do an Alphabet Hike exploration of the current exhibit, learn about Native Americans and pioneer girls, and play a game to discover the function of museum artifacts.

 

Brownie Scout Saturday Program

Brownie Scouts will complete their Listening to the Past Try-It! as they learn about the history of Washington County through pictures, games, hands-on activities, and stories. Brownies will learn to play Native American games and act out stories from the past. They will also learn about historic buildings in the community that still stand and the stories behind them!

 

Junior Scout Saturday Program

Junior Girl Scouts will earn their Local Lore Badge. They will study through hands-on activities, crafts, and amusing stories what life was like for the first inhabitants of the Tualatin Valley and early settlers. The program includes discovering hidden secrets and stories of our diverse community, comparing, and contrasting how the area has changed using maps, photographs, and historic documents, and participating in museum projects to help preserve local history.

Winter Hawk Scout Nights

 

 

Mark O Hatfield Marine Science Center

Registration Required

 

These programs can be scheduled on other dates subject to instructor availability. Most classes are designed to provide credit toward Try-Its, Badges, and Interest Project Patches. Oregon Sea Grant Ocean Studies event patches are included in price.

 

Time: 1-3pm, except Shore to Sea

Cost: $8.50 per girl per session, with a $50 min, if scheduling for another day.

 

April 26, 2008 From Shore to Sea IP

This program will satisfy Skill Builders 1-3 & 5, Technology 2 & 5 and Career Exploration 1, 4 and part of 2. Service Project is needed to complete IP.

 

May 31, 2008 Eco-Explorer Try-it

This program will help to satisfy the Try-It. We will explore the salt marsh, build a habitat for live sea animals, and learn about food chains. Be sure to dress for the weather 

 

June 7, 2008 A Walk on the Wild Side

Juniors (2 hour program)

This program will satisfies Earth Connections 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 and Wildlife 1, 4-7 and 9.
