Ceremonies are an essential part of GS
traditions. Each of the pieces below can be used by itself for a simple
ceremony or put pieces together to form a more elaborate one.
Many ceremonies start with a
Flag Ceremony
(there are many kinds), you may choose to follow it with a song about
America, there are many to choose from, pick one the girls know or like.
Including a
Promise and/or Law Ceremony piece helps to teach the
girls what they are a part of, if doing it in front of parents it tells
them also. Many ceremonies will have different ways of doing this like
just doing a reading or using flashlights or candles. You may choose to
read a Poem
to the girls about scouting, or to the parents about volunteering.
Leading to the highlight of your ceremony (Investiture, petal
achievement, fun patches, or bridging). End with a closing Flag
Ceremony, song, poem, skit by the girls, or anything you choose. There
are many pieces you can put with a ceremony, take the pieces and put
them together to say what you want to say to the girls or parents.
Remember to have the girls help you in planning and always have Fun. |
